To many dog owners, dogs are not just pets, they are family. This is the reason why they treat their dogs with utmost care, making sure that the dogs get every thing that they need from shelter to food to grooming. Dog grooming used to just involve bathing, but now it involves many other things like combing, brushing, removing the dead hair, cleaning the dogs’ eyes and ears, and cutting their nails.

Grooming your dogs has other benefits than making your “babies” look good. It is also necessary to keep your dogs healthy and is a good way to spend time with your dogs. Because there are different breeds of dogs, they require different methods of grooming. You have to consider the hairiness and the coat of the dog to determine how often or extensive the grooming should be.

A dog as smooth as a beagle, for example, does not require some fussy cleaning. Bathing it should only be done when necessary. The nails and the ears should be kept clean to keep the dog away from infection. A toy poodle, on the other hand, requires a more specialized dog grooming. It should be bathed regularly. Maintaining the cleanliness of the ears and teeth is also important.

Mastiffs have rough but shine coats that can be cared for by brushing them regularly. They should also be bathed only when required. The dog breed, boxer, also does not need that much grooming because they are generally very neat.

Aside from giving your dogs baths, brushing them, and cleaning their nails and ears, you can also dress them. There are now clothes stores for dogs that you can go to to select clothes for your dogs to not just make them clean, but fashionable as well.
