Rottweiler  Due to their recurring appearances as the fierce, scary and diabolic dogs in movies, Rottweilers became associated for beastly attacks. This is just one of the many negative undertones against the Rottweiler. Of course, these are plain undertones. Rottweilers, when trained, can be the best guard dogs for a household. The Rottweiler is a very interesting breed.
Their short and shiny black coat combined with their tan colored muzzle alleviated the fear factor in these dog breed. They have muscular built and large paws. They have long ears attached to their huge skulls. From its physique, it can be easily seen that this type of dog is really athletic.
During the old times, Rottweilers were employed as working dogs. They are used for labor by performing labor-intensive tasks such as pulling cargo carts, herding bovines, guarding premises and assisting police forces.
Rottweilers are classified by the American Kennel Club under the working group. Their robust and proud look makes it easily ascertained why this dog was classified under such group. The Rottweiler is a huge dog that can grow for twenty-four (24) to twenty seven (27) inches for males and twenty two (22) to twenty five (25) inches for females. Since this type of dog is athletic, plenty of exercise is required. The outdoors excites the Rottweiler. Walking, running, swimming and playing are its favorite activities. It can also thrive inside a household provided that the house training commenced at an early stage.
Rottweilers will make excellent guard dogs and companions as long as it is trained by its master beforehand. It can be easily learn basic commands. Otherwise, it may develop disobedience and aggression. Once properly trained, Rottweilers can provide an immeasurable degree of loyalty. They can be relied upon especially on times of imminent danger to its owner as their protective nature will emerge in no time.
However, utmost caution is also encouraged especially when taken outside. Rottweilers are naturally aggressive and powerful dogs. If left on its own, they have a high tendency to attack other people and pets. Keeping them attached on a leash while taking a walk outside will help control the Rottweiler.
Grooming a Rottweiler is not time consuming at all. It does not require constant brushing. Its short coat can be easily cleaned and maintained with an ordinary dog shampoo and a bristle brush. A clean Rottweiler has shiny, black coat. Failure to maintain the coat might later on become the cause of occurrence of parasites. Shedding also occurs for the Rottweiler regularly.
Rottweilers are not as diabolic as most people know. Given the proper training and handling, they can become a lovely and functional addition to every home. A loyal companion, an athletic partner and a protective guard dog, Rottweiler is a good choice for those who want a challenging yet rewarding pet ownership.
