Golden Retriever

Dogs are usually trained to protect their master when there is danger. They are also trained to compete in dog races and dog competitions. This quality of dogs that is highly trainable leads them to be attached with human. That is why mostly they are considered as a man’s best friend.  Dogs possess different kind of intellectual capacity that is why when they are being breed to the other; it is most likely they have increase abilities or decrease. But for any reason dogs are more dependable than other animals.

One of the breeds of dogs that are commonly seen in the house is the Golden Retriever. This kind of dog is sociable and kind. But this kind of dog is poor in handling role as guard dog because they trust easily because they are more sociable. The Golden Retriever are in nature are intelligent, well-behaved and calm. The Golden retriever admires to reclaim. Either things that are thrown such stick, ball or any flying object, they easily retrieve it especially when you play them at the water.

Golden retriever is known for their intelligence that is why they are highly trainable because they can easily learn up to 240 commands including words and phrases. They easily learn new tricks from their master.

Golden Retriever originated in Scotland and England. Their ancestry are all related sporting dogs. The Golden Retrievers was accepted in England in the year 1903 as Flat Coats-Golden. Then in year 1920 the name was change to Golden retriever because of their ability to retrieve that was exhibited in 1908 to 1911. Then the Golden retriever was registered for the first time in Canada by Archie Majoribanks.

Golden retrievers are known for their well-proportioned feather and their golden colored coat. It is said that their coat is water repellant. The nose is usually black and they have eyes that look so kind with dark color. the Golden Retriever generally weigh about 60-80 pounds for male while female retriever they only have 55-70 pounds. The average height of male retriever is around 22-24 inches and for female they only have 20-22 inches.

The Golden Retrievers are always one of the top performers during competition for agility and obedience. Additional to their skills is their swimming ability that makes them top performers also in dock jumping. And mostly, the ability to retrieve flying balls make them on top.                    

But despite of the active performance the Golden Retriever has a limited life span due to some ailments brought genetic disorder.

The Golden Retriever has a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years. The Golden retriever are prone to some ailments and that is why the retrievers should have regular check up. Mostly their disease are caused by genetic disorders. The most common diseases are the cancer. They usually suffer from mast cell tumor and that is the cause of the death of Golden Retriever. Other common disease of the Golden Retriever are the Hip and elbow dysplasia.

Since the Golden Retrievers are prone to some ailments, there is an increase result of abandoning the Golden retriever by their owner. Because of this, there are orphanage that were established to help Golden retrievers.
