The Gentleness and Non-Aggressive that is Cocker Spaniel American For dog lovers who are simply attracted to full feathered long and smooth coat and a happy companion, would find greater fulfillment in owning a Cocker Spaniel American. This breed of dog is ranked as one of the most popular dogs in America. It originates in the country of United Kingdom until such time it was moved to Canada and Spain until it reaches the land of United States. Cockers are originally bred for hunting purposes which makes it suitable for its name ‘cocker’ meant to hunt woodcocks. However, as years passed by, there have been some divisions involved which today separate the breed of English to American Spaniels.
Spaniels are known to be happy dogs which somehow make it as one of their trademarks. At present, these dogs can also be good candidates for house pets apart from being a working companion. It’s patchy and definitely very expressive eyes make it easier to draw closer attention from people. It has three colors ranging from black cocker, a parti-colored Spaniel with black and white combinations and ASCOB which stands for ‘any solid Color Other Than black’ and lastly, those that are of solid black hues. It can weigh as much as 28 pounds and 14 to 15 inches depending on the gender.
Having this dog for a pet will never leave you dissatisfied, for its type of temperament makes it an excellent choice as pets for everyone even to children. They are playful and definitely enjoys being in the company of people. They are not used to harsh physical activities and mostly do not excel in trainings. On the other hand, obedience training is easily taught to this type of dog as they can easily catch up to simple commands. They might lose concentration and tends to be stubborn in the process, thus it is suggested that training should be unswerving and constant.
Caring for this sweet dog necessitates keen attention specifically on its fleece and fur. Since they are full of beans and would love to play around, hair tangling is always a problem. With this, a regular brush and trim of the coat is needed to avoid any forms of irritable infections that mostly come from debris and dirt. Their fluffy down ears needed regular cleaning to steer clear of ear infections that might amass once unattended. Once infection surfaces, a disease known as Hematoma which is characterized by a rupture of blood vessels is a perilous condition that springs up from a simple unhygienic cleaning of the ear.
Cocker Spaniels are sensitive dogs and often have a lifespan of 10 to 12 years the most. They are susceptible to various diseases such as blindness if the eyes are not provided the right cleaning in which they are sensitive. Other diseases such as Glaucoma, heart problems since these dogs tend to slack off and do not have a regular exercise, hip dysplasia, gastric torsion, hemophilia and patellar luxation among others.
Cocker Spaniel American is simply a showy dog that excels most on show rings. This high-spirited dog with excellent character, non-belligerent, gentle and gracious will surely have a special place in very family’s home.
